Dear Customers;

Due to the overplanting of Pinot Noir the last decade there is now a sea of Pinot’s available. I realize you have many more options to try and I appreciate that you consider Castalia as a quality buy knowing that you have a lot of cheaper options. I have reduced my production of the 2017 to 250 cases down from 375 cases in 2013. This allows me to use only the best blocks available to me and I think you will notice a difference. The more people that order the wine from me, allows me to hold my pricing longer. So please tell a friend.

I am happy to announce that the 2017 Vintage is the 25th anniversary of Castalia. Looking back at all the many wines I have made, I am proud of the consistent quality of each vintage largely due to the fact that the Rochioli vineyards are the source for each one. Only three wineries beside Rochioli are allowed to put that name on the label and I am extremely happy to say I am one of them. The 2017 Vintage had closer to normal yields with a long growing season without any heat spikes until the wine was in fermenters, giving it deeper darker tones of cherry, mushroom and earth than the 2016 and is a little more accessible at this point. As with all my pinots, the 2017 has a long lingering finish that leaves you craving more, so the longer you wait to drink it the better it will be. With a PH of 3.5 it should age for at least ten years and won’t hit its prime for 4 to 7 years.

I still have a little of the 2016 available. It is finally aging into an extremely nice wine that is not as tight and closed up as it was for the first year. It has a slightly different profile than previous years but it has really bright fruit tones of cherry and currants with a nice Burgundian finish and is still getting better every month. I am offering it for sale along with the new 2017 in three-bottle lots of each vintage, with a minimum of 6 bottles, and a maximum of 15 bottles per order.

**I am now offering to pay for shipping if you purchase the wine by check, money order, or PayPal. I am sorry but I can’t afford the credit card charges and the cost of shipping.

Please visit my website where you can order the wine or send me an email with any questions or problems. Thank you for your support. Enjoy the wine and remember to tell a friend.
